GOOD READS

FRIDAY, 5-2-08

  • "You are not your bookcase" by Megan Hustad, on how one's consumption has become one's identity. Not nearly comprehensive, but important.
  • "La Vida Robot" by my favorite Wired contributor Joshua Davis, on a group of high school kids who can't afford college because they are undocumented and poor, but who anyway beat MIT in a robot competition. This is old but no less awesome. Suck it, private school!
  • Gabe Pramuk's trail journal. GP was my roommate during the fall quarter and is now hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, which goes from the US/Mexico border to the US/Canada border.
  • BS Report in which Simmons talks to Paul Shirley, low-tier NBA-caliber basketball player, sometime in the spring of 2007.
